Flemington,
NJ – Richard Kuhrt, Raritan Township Committeeman.
Platform of fiscal responsibility and open space preservation,
Kuhrt believes that a balanced and un-biased committee
is in the best interest of the township and its citizens.
"All
of the members of the current township committee are
Republicans, and as such they do not always represent
all of our township's citizens" said Kuhrt. "A
balanced committee that more accurately reflects the
values and concerns of the residents will be more
responsive and in touch with the community."
Mr. Kuhrt
is a long-time resident of Raritan Township, having
lived in the county for over 17 years. An active member
of the community, Mr. Kuhrt coaches both basketball
and soccer, and is an elder at the Three Bridges Reformed
Church. Working with the township's youth and their
parents gives Richard a unique perspective on the
issues that matter to the residents of Raritan Township.
"If
you want to know what the community is thinking or
feeling, come to the youth sports games and listen"
said Kuhrt. "Parents and grandparents are not
shy about expressing their concerns about taxes and
sprawl. Their good ideas have been ignored for too
long. I want to change that."
Richard
believes that reducing sprawl through open space preservation
is crucial to preserving our quality of life in Raritan
Township. In addition, Kuhrt feels that careful review
of the Township Budget can identify wasteful spending
and in turn reduce taxes.
A graduate
of Hope College and Seton Hall Law School, Richard
has a law practice in Flemington and is a member of
both the NJ BAR and the Hunterdon BAR. Richard lives
with his wife Karen in Raritan Township. Karen has
been a registered nurse for 22 years and over that
time has enjoyed teaching nursery school and swimming
to community children. They have 3 children, David,
Gregory, and Nate.
